Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Sergio Dos Santos believes John Paintsil no allegiances with any player in football coaching could play to his advantage as he assists Steve Komphela at the club.

Dos Santos argues that Paintsil will form no attachment with anyone in the squad - in a way that it will hinder his coaching capabilities.

The appointment of the ex-Ghana international came as a surprise to many as he replaces club legend Doctor Khumalo.

"He (Steve Komphela) probably wants a fresh person with no connections at all to come in and start working with him. Therefore, Paintsil can come in without any allegiances to anybody… without any favour to anybody. He comes in fresh from the start," Dos Santos told Soccer Laduma.
