Atletico Madrid assistant coach Mono Burgos, whose menacing demeanour came to wider attention during his team's Europa League semifinal first leg at Arsenal on Thursday night, has long had a parallel career as a heavy metal band frontman.

Burgos is a former Atletico teammate and long-time assistant of current coach Diego Simeone, and stepped in for his fellow Argentine after Simeone was sent off for angry protests to the referee early in Thursday's game at the Emirates Stadium.

For those being introduced properly to Atletico assistant coach Mono Burgos tonight - he has had second career as recording heavy metal singer - takes that just as serioulsly https://t.co/SRov1GuaMw

The ex-goalkeeper made five records while fronting rock groups Garb and Burgos Simpatia during the 1990s while he also kept goal for the Rojiblancos, gaining considerable critical success with a style which drew on influences from AC/DC to Guns N' Roses.

Arsenal indeed seemed "Thunderstruck" as Burgos' touchline badgering of the referee and urging on of his side kept the 10 men well in the tie ahead of next Thursday's second leg at Atletico's Wanda Metropolitano.
