Ghana defender Baba Rahman will get more playing time during Chelsea's pre-season tour of the United States to impress manager Antonio Conte after the injury to Branislav Ivanovic.

Ivanovic, who is competing with the Ghanaian youngster for the left-back position, is facing three weeks out because of injury.

The gritty Serbian defender is out with a dislocated shoulder after picking up the injury in the first half of Chelsea's win over RZ Pellet.

Baba took over from Ivanovic during the game and the Serbian will miss Chelsea's friendlies with Liverpool and Real Madrid in USA.

This gives the chance for the Ghanaian player to impress after struggling for position at the Blues last season.

Conte, who was in charge of Italy at Euro 2016 this summer, is using the tour of the USA to run the rule over his new players.

The injury to Ivanovic will give the new coach the chance to see more of Baba Rahman ahead of the start of the new season.

Chelsea will play their final friendly against German side Werder Bremen before they start their Premier League campaign against West Ham on August 15.
