Struggling Berekum Chelsea handed their survival hopes a major boost on Wednesday when thrashing high-spending Heart of Lions 3-0 at the Golden City Park to move out of the relegation zone.
The Berekum-based club had suffered bad results following the exit of rich club owner Emmanuel Kyeremeh which left the club in danger of relegation.
With players keen on salvaging the image of the club, they left no stones unturned as they thrashed Lions who have been boosted by the cash injection by major investor Randy Abbey.
But the financial motivation proved not enough of Lions players who suffered their second defeat on the trot in the match at the Golden City Park.
Benjamin Boateng opened the scoring in the first half before two second half goals by Jackson Owusu and Dennis Tetteh sealed all three points for Chelsea.
The loss was Lions' second on a trot as Chelsea, who have a game in hand and move out of the relegation zone.
The result will also boost their confidence in their participation in the CAF Champions League this weekend.
