Brazilian ambassador to Ghana Irene Vida Gala has warned fans looking forward to going to the 2014 FIFA World Cup about the high cost of living in the South American country.

It has been reported that this June’s soccer fiesta in Brazil will be the most expensive.

The Minister of Youth and Sports Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah has said government will struggle to sponsor more fans for the trip.

"Brazil is a very expensive country," the ambassador said.

"I hear some people say 11,000 dollars will be ok but I doubt it would be.

"You go to Brazil and you marvel at the tourist attraction and the big hotels. You can’t just go and see only football matches.

“I’m sure you will love to go to the beaches and all that is not going to be easy.

"The standard of living in Brazil has risen more than three times in the past year that should tell you how high it is to go there.”
