Ex-Ghana defender Hamza Mohammed arrested over alleged visa fraud

Ex-Ghana defender Hamza Mohammed has been arrested over allegation of visa fraud, Kumasi-based All Friends FM 94.5 has reported.

The 34-year-old, who plays for Real Tamale United was whisked away by the police after his side's 1-0 defeat in Kumasi against Kotoko on Wednesday.

The former Ghana international is alleged to have defrauded two persons with a view of securing them visas abroad.

The unsuspected victims are reported to have paid various sums of monies to the suspect with the hope of getting a visa but have neither received the visa nor the refund of their monies.

They made a complaint at the Kumasi Central Police station which led to his arrest at the Baba Yara stadium in a dramatic episode on Wednesday

The experienced defender played for several clubs including  Asante Kotoko, King Faisal as well as Romanian side Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt and New Zealand based Knights FC.

He captained the Black Satellites in the 1999 U20 world youth championship in Nigeria where Ghana reached the quarter-finals and has so far played 28 times for the Black Stars scoring once.
