BVB keeper Burki: No one was thinking about football

Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Burki has given some insight into the frightening experience of earlier tonight.

The BVB team was hit by three explosive devices which were detonated as the bus pulled out onto the main road to head to the Westfalenstadion for the Champions League clash with AS Monaco.

Players and staff hit the floor of the team coach as they had no idea what was happening and Burki admits it was a fairly harrowing moment, which saw teammate Marc Bartra hit with splinters of glass and subsequently taken to hospital.

"The bus turned on the main road when there was suddenly a huge bang - a proper explosion," Burki told Swiss media.

"The police were quickly on the spot and handled the situation. We were all in shock and no one was thinking about football anymore.

"I was sat next to Marc Bartra on the back row of the coach and he was injured because of the broken window.

"After the bang, we all ducked and those who could lay on the floor did so. We didn't know what else would happen."

The quarter-final first leg has since been postponed until tomorrow night at 5:45pm GMT.
