Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero believes he and his teammates will need to be a their absolute best when they meet AS Monaco this week.

City host the French side in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg on Tuesday night and former Malaga gloveman Caballero feels the home team will have their work cut out for them as Radamel Falcao is rediscovering his very best form.

The Colombian striker, who endured disastrous loan spells at Manchester United and Chelsea, starred for Atletico Madrid between 2011 and 2013 before he made the move to Monaco.

“I had good times against him when we played against each other in Spain," he told The Sun.

“He was the best striker in the world when he was at Atletico Madrid.

“And for two years, he helped them become one of the most important teams in Europe. He came over here and couldn't show that level of his best performances.

“After the injury with the cruciate ligament, it was difficult for him at United. It's not easy after such an injury but he is scoring a lot again now.

“We must be careful of what he can do. We hope we don't see the best Falcao and he doesn't score."

The Argentine added: “Monaco are strong and difficult to beat.

“Now the best are in this stage of the Champions League so we will have to concentrate more than ever to beat them."
