Ghanaian champions AshantiGold posted a slim 1-0 win over ten-man MO Bejaia in their CAF Champions League first qualifying round first leg tie.

Defender Joshua Tijani scored the solitary goal on the hour mark to give the Miners the slender advantage ahead of the return leg in two weeks time.

Tijani, who was deployed as a right back, cut in before unleashing latching home from close range.

Goalkeeper Lamara Daif was quick off his line and clashed with Tijani so had to be replaced by first choice gloves man Chamseddine Rahmani.

It was a well-deserved goal for AshantiGold who were in control of the match and dictating the pace.

Things moved from bad to worse for MO Bejaia who had centre back Adel Lakhdari sent off for a second bookable offence.

He deliberately handled the ball after left back Hudu Yakubu had gone past him.

AshGoldSC XI: Robert Dabuo, Eric Opoku, Joshua Tijani, Hudu Yakudu, Kadri Mohammed, Awudu Nafiu, Alhassan Nuhu, Fuseini Nuhu, Amos Addai, Isaac Amoah, Paul Abaka Nkrumah.
