Canada will play Ghana tonight

Canada assistant coach Michael Findley says they won't underrate the injury-hit Ghana team when they face the Black Stars in an international friendly in Washington tonight.

Ghana coach Avram Grant is missing several players because of injuries and visa problems which have led to the exclusion of several key players.

The Israeli manager has been forced to give New York Red Bulls winger Lloyd Sam and New York City FC playmaker Kwadwo Poku get their first international call-ups after excelling in MLS this season, while Phil Ofosu-Ayeh and Gideon Baah are also named in the Black Stars squad for the first time.

Captain Asamoah Gyan has been forced to withdraw because of injury, while Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah and Swansea City attacker Andre Ayew are also unavailable.

Baba Rahman, Solomon Asante, Ebenezer Assifuah and Richmond Boakye Yiadom could not get visas to travel United States for the match.

Canada assistant coach Findley says despite the absence of the key Ghana players they cannot underrate the Black Stars.

“Ghana has high quality in their team and we know there are new players coming through with some who are based here in America,” Canada assistant coach Michael Findley said at the pre-match presser.

“They have some key players injured but we can’t take their team for granted.

We have done our research on the team and we are aware of the competition Ghana will give.”

The match is set to kick of 7:00 pm local time (11:00 GMT Ghana time).
