Carpi coach Fabrizio Castori confesses to newfound team confidence despite their 2-3 defeat to Juventus.
Marco Borriello opened the score but the Bianconeri put three past them despite a late own goal from Leonardo Bonucci.
“I’m satisfied with the performance, we were equal to Juventus for vast periods of the tie,” Castori told Sky Sport Italia
Lorenzo Lollo had a chance to pull the Biancorossi level just before the final whistle but the midfielder scuffed his shot.
“I’m happy because we won in Florence and today stood up to Juventus, we have proven that we are alive and kicking.”
Carpi are desperate to escape relegation, with the Serie A newcomers looking out of their depth on ten points thus far.
“I tried to read the game on the strength of my team, I was worried about gifting Juventus too much space,” he added.
“We must continue to improve and find continuity, now our self-esteem has definitely improved,” Castori concluded.
