Celtic receive Champions League boost as Astana star Patrick Twumasi says he's desperate to leave

Astana could be set for a major blow before they face Celtic in a Champions League showdown after star player Patrick Twumasi announced he wants to sign for Bursaspor.

The Premiership champions welcome the Kazakh side to Parkhead next week for the first leg, before a marathon journey for the return leg.

Astana warmed up for the playoff round with a 1-0 league win against Ordabasy - the team who lost out to Siroki Brijeg in the Europa League, who were later beaten by Aberdeen.

But they've been rocked after a transfer tug of war involving Ghanaian striker Twumasi, who is widely considered Astana's best player, after netting three goals in the Champions League qualifiers already.

Turkish giants Bursaspor have spent most of the summer wooing Twumasi, who is valued at £3million and he looks certain to quit the Kazakhstan side soon.

He said: "I want to play for Bursaspor. I have made that clear.

"But it is entirely down to the club if and when they sell me. I am under contract until 2019 and it is up to them."

Twumasi, 23, has netted nine goals in 14 starts for Astana this season, but wants a new challenge.

And Astana have got to decide whether to keep him for the Champions League double-header with Celtic or sell him now.
