Would-be Ghana international Charles Takyi scored the consolation for his German side St. Pauli in their 2-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
The new entrants were hoping to halt their slide from a mid table position into the relegation zone in the Bundesliga but were denied.
Gekas converted a penalty in the 34th minute to give Frankfurt the lead after Daube brought down the Greece international inside the box.
The striker beat St Pauli keeper Thomas Kessler low to his right to make it 1-0.
Takyi then drew level for Pauli three minutes before the break.
His curling free-kick came of the shoulder of Frankfurt defender Tzavellas and skit into the net for the leveller.
But Frankfurt struck again after 77 minutes when St Pauli defender Markuse Thorandt stumbled as he attempted to clear away Marco Russ' long ball and the pass landed in the way of Gekas and he gleefully finished off with a left footer.
The goal was Takyi's third in the season for Pauli who now lie third from bottom.
