Christian Atsu's permanent Newcastle United switch delights Tony Yeboah

Ghana legend Anthony Yeboah has expressed his delight for Christian Atsu after finally finding a permanent club in Newcastle United following several loan spells during his time at Chelsea.

Newcastle United activated the 25-year-old's £6.2 million buyout clause and signed him on a four-year contract after his successful loan spell from English Premier League champions Chelsea FC.

Atsu joined Chelsea from Porto in 2013 but did not make a single senior appearance and spent the majority of his time on loan at Vitesse Anhem, Everton, Bournemouth, Malaga and Newcastle.

And the former Ghana international is thrilled that midfielder will finally get his Premier League breakthrough at Newcastle after failing to make the most of loan spells at Everton and Bournemouth.

"I am delighted for Atsu. He has been tossed around on loan from one club to the other but he seems to have found a base at a very good club like Newcastle United," he told KweseESPN.

"The Premier League will test him incredibly. It requires strength and a strong personality and it requires such great discipline but he is such a good player and I really hope he can prove that in the Premier League," Yeboah concluded.

He scored five goals in 35 appearances for Newcastle to help them regain their place in the top division at the first time of asking.
