Clinching the SWAG cup means nothing to me - David Duncan

Published on: 30 November 2015

Winning the SWAG cup means nothing to me as a coach because it is not my first time of winning it says Asante Kotoko head coach, David Duncan.

Since Duncan began his coaching career, the tough talker is yet to win any major silverware with any club in Ghana but he is addicted to winning off season trophies like the SWAG cup.

The Porcupine Warriors last Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium defied all odds to pip the newly crowned Ghana Premier League champions, Ashanti Gold thanks to Eric Donkor’s last minute strike.

Despite winning the trophy, Asante Kotoko coach, David Duncan has played down any jubilations stating that the trophy means nothing to him because it is not the first time he has won it.

“Winning the SWAG Cup doesn’t mean anything to me because I’m winning this cup for the third time. First two with Ashanti Gold, that was against Kotoko (2006) and Hearts of Oak (2009), and now winning it with Kotoko for the third time."

"So I don't think it calls for any jubilation," Duncan said.
