Ghana youth international midfielder David Atanga suffered an injury while in action for Liefering FC in the Austrian second-tier league on Friday.

The precocious 18-year-old midfielder was forced off the field of play in the 41st minute after picking an injury following a clash with an opposition midfielder.

He was replaced by Ghanaian compatriot Raphael Dwamena as he limped off for medical assessment.

Further scans are expected to be performed on the 2015 Ghana U20 midfielder on Monday to assess the extent of damage done to him and when he can return to training.

In a game that saw hosts St. Polten claim a narrow 1-0 win against Liefering - the amateur side of Red Bull Salzburg, Ghana youth goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi was unused as he warmed the bench for the entire duration.

Atanga played in the Uefa Champions League preliminary stages with Red Salzburg this season before he returned to the amateur side following their failure to progress through the competition.
