Defender Kwaku Andoh reveals he left Hearts to save his career

Defender Kwaku Andoh says he quit Hearts of Oak in order to save his career as he was left to rot on the bench while with the Phobians.

The 24-year-old reached an agreement to terminate his contract at Hearts after being with the club for just one year.

Andoh had one year left to run on his contract before it was terminated – rendering him a free agent.

The former Heart of Lions player now reveals he was unhappy with his extensive bench-warming duties at the club last season.

“I had to look out for what was best for my career,” he told Asempa FM.

“I wasn’t playing games and was always on the bench.

“I did everything I could to catch the eye of the coaches to gain selection but I only found myself on the bench.

“Things were just not working out for me. I wouldn’t say the coaches didn’t like me, just that things weren’t working as planned.

“I am young and therefore to save my career, I need to move on and look elsewhere where I will be playing regularly.”

Andoh who joined Hearts of Oak in 2014 played just six games in the entire 2014/15 Premier League season.
