Egypt winger Mohamed Elneny happy to win ugly against Ghana in World Cup qualifier

Winger Mohamed Elneny says Egypt prefers "playing ugly" and qualify for 2018 World Cup  to the idea of "playing nice football and being at home."

The North Africans put up a below performance despite winning 2-0 against Ghana in the 2018 World Cup qualifier on Sunday.

Mohammed Salah opened the scoring in the first half through the spot kick before Abdallah Said sealed victory in the second half to give the side maximum points.

And Mohammed Elneny says winning is more important than enjoying fantastic football.

“It’s not vital to put in a good performance, winning is more important," he said

“Ghana are a strong team and have great players. We let their players control the possession but they still failed to pose any threat on our goal throughout the 90 minutes.”
