Former Ghana international Kim Grant has expressed interest in the AshantiGold coaching job but stressed he will only make a move if the job is made available.

The Obuasi-based club are yet to substantively appoint the replacement for Zdravko Lugarusic who was fired at the tail of last year for non-performance.

His assistant Yaw Acheampong has since taken charge of the team on an interim basis and led the club to an impressive seven-game winning streak at the start of the second round of the Premier League.

Speculations are however rife Acheampong will be sidestepped in the substantive appointment of a substantive coach following the massive decline of the side in recent games.

And Grant who is currently based in the Czech Republic says he will relish taking up the post but only if the job is made available.

"I think it will be wrong for me to make a move for the job out of respect for the current coach Mr. Acheampong but if there is an opportunity of course I will be interested," he told Takoradi-based Melody FM.

"I would like to put my name forward but at the moment there is a coach in place and therefore it will be unprofessional for me to say I am after his job."
