France-born Ghanaian youth forward Kevin Osei has joined English lower-tier side Carlisle United on trial with hopes of securing a deal, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

The 24-year-old, who failed to secure a permanent move to Belgian side Waasland-Beveren after joining them last season, played his first test game for the League Two side.

Osei will have given manager Keith Curle plenty to think about after a lively second-half display.

Former Ghana international Derek Asamoah also got on target for Carlisle United as they earned a second pre-season victory in the space of three days.

Carlisle manager Curle made several changes at half-time, including second outings for trialists Joe Thompson and Osei, while the likes of Jabo Ibehre and Tom Miller also got their second Carlisle appearance.

And the Blues eventually made it 2-0 when Danny Grainger’s superb diagonal ball picked out Osei, and the trialist’s pace and control took him into the box before sliding home.

Osei, born to Ghanaian parents in France, is hoping to win himself a deal at Carlisle Town after failing to secure a permanent deal in Belgium last season.

The attacker was drawn into the 2011 Ghana U20 squad but he was not able to make his debut for Ghana because of passport issues.
