Fatau Dauda has been dropped for Wednesdayââ¬â¢s international friendly against Montenegro but continues to be classed as Ghanaââ¬â¢s No1 goalkeeper, according to Kwesi Appiah.
The Ghanaian trainer has confirmed that Dauda is still his number one and will start in post at the World Cup and plans to use the friendly against Montenegro only to look at his other options including Stephen Adams.
The 28-year-old is under intense pressure at South African side Orlando Pirates where he has made only two appearances.
However speaking ahead of the friendly against Montenegro, Ã Kwesi Appiah, Ã has stressed that the ex-Ashantigold last line of defense remains his preferred choice in Brazil.
ââ¬ÅFatau Dauda still remains my first-choice goalkeeper despite his present predicaments at his club,â⬠Appiah told Accra-basedà Asempa FM.
ââ¬ÅI have given the two [Stephen and Kwarasey] Adams the opportunity to prove themselves countless times and he knows what they are capable of doing but my doors are still not closed to any player.ââ¬
ââ¬ÅI am still monitoring the likes of Daniel Agyei, Razak Braimah and some other goalkeepers who in one way or the other can help push the dream of the team or the nation forward.ââ¬
