Former Black Stars and Hearts of Oak iconic star Stephen Appiah has denied reports that he was prevented from sitting at the VIP during the week four clash between Hearts and Bechem United at the Accra Sports Stadium.

According to the football icon, he rejected sitting at the VIP because he was in the company of five other people and couldn’t have gone to the VIP without them.

“It’s not true that I was denied a seat at the VIP. I was given a seat but I was with my wife and kids as well as my friend and his wife. So I couldn’t have accepted that,” Appiah told Hearts board member Alhaji Akanbi when interrogated.

Tornado, as he is affectionately known, explained that when they got to the stadium ahead of the kickoff, he was asked to come up and sit at the VIP because there was a seat for him.

He however denied because he was not ready to isolate himself from his family to sit at the VIP alone.

Reports emerging in the media had suggested that the former club legend was heckled at the entrance of the VIP by some Hearts of Oak officials during the said match.
