Ex- France captain Marcel Desailly is ready to take charge of the Malaysian national football team, according to reports in Kuala Lumpur.

On Wednesday, he said it was left to the Football Assocaition of Malaysia (FAM) to make a decision on whether to hire him as their chief coach.

“I have already informed them of my availability and left it to the people in charge (of the game in Malaysia) to decide a couple of months ago.

“I have already got my coaching badge and bring with me all my knowledge of the game and coaching philosophy,” he said at the naming of the nominees for the Laureus World Sports Awards at a leading hotel here.

The national coach’s job remains open after the leading shortlisted candidate, Philippe Troussier, failed to come to an agreement with FAM last month.

The position became vacant when FAM did not renew the contract of Datuk K. Rajagopal in December.

Besides Troussier and Desailly the other shortlisted candidates are Roma manager Zdenek Zeman and Englishman Bob Houghton.

The national team is currently handled by caretaker coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee.

Desailly added that he has an idea what needs to be done for Malaysian football and he will be able to handle the task if given the chance.

“Football is football anywhere, it is a universally-accepted game. So there is no issue coaching in any part of the world. It is all about mastering the skills and teaching the right basics and ensuring a good development structure,” he added.

Please, do your research very well. There are many rookie coaches who handled high profile teams - both clubs and national teams. To bring it closer to you, where did CIV's coach get his coaching experience?

He can't employ himself. Somebody should offer him the opportunity but discrimination, propaganda, criticisms and tribalism is the trace of a typical Ghanaian. How should Malaysia become the first country to have confidence in him when Ghana have so many national teams?. You should know and understand that something is seriously wrong with our football system in the country.

Remember 2 years ago, the dude from Manchester United that promised to be Desailly's goalkeeper trainer when he startscoaching? With this man on the stars bench, there will be no room for juju dauda. Just praying AA get kicked out on time Bless

Keep praying but I can promise you that before AA gets kicked out, you'll first lose your job, go completely broke and be seriously ill in order to feel the impact of your devilish wish on your fellow man. Some of you think witches only are people who spiritually fly by night but you have no clue forcing somebody against his will or wishing somebody's fall are the main stay in witchcraft. You praying he gets kicked out, your balls will swell too.
