Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah admits his team has been playing under immense pressure since returning from their disappointing campaign at the 2014 World Cup.

The Black Stars came from behind to beat Togo on Wednesday to record their first win in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Ghana team have opened their campaign in the most subdued manner after being held at home by Uganda amidst a booing home crowd in Kumasi.

Several Ghanaian fans have withdrawn their support to the team in protest of the manner in which the team bundled out of the World Cup staged in Brazil.

But the Black Stars playing against a hostile away crowd in Lome, coupled with the immense expectation back home for a win, lived up to the billing to secure a vital 3-2 win over the Hawks.

But Appiah admits the win didn't come easy due to the several challenges facing the team after the World Cup.

“It has not been easy, after the World Cup, you play your first game at home and you get a draw is not easy,” he said.

'‘There is a lot of pressure on we the technical team and the players.

“When we were coming out here we knew Togo had got a good team and top of it playing under pressure is a difficult situation.

“But these players are all professionals and they know how to deal with such situations.

“I am really pleased with their performance, they played as a team and made sure we ended up with victory.”
