Executive Committee member Winfred Osei has disclosed that the re-election Kwesi Nyantakyi as Ghana FA president demonstrates the confidence the football family in him.

According to the Tema Youth FC president, the qualities demonstrated by Nyantakyi makes it impossible for the 123 congressmen not to vote for him.

He said: "Kwesi's re-election demonstrates the confidence we have in the football family have in him. It is not that there are no eligible people at the executive committee who can be voted as president of the FA but we think that the person leading is on course and deserves the backing.

"Kwesi is someone who has positioned himself in such a way that he us hugely respected globally within the rank and file of the football family. Why should we disturb the status quo?

“That is what many people don't understand."

Nyantakyi has been handed a third term of office and will see his tenure expire in 2019.

He was first voted in office in 2005 and has spearheaded the country to three successive FIFA World Cup finals and the annexation of the FIFA U20 World Cup in 2009.
