Ghana Football Association vice president Fred Crentsil has expressed content with the work done by Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah as talks for a contract renewal gather steam.

Appiah’s tenure is expected to run out in July and there are fears in certain quarters that he might not be handed a new deal after the World Cup.

The Ex-international made history by becoming the first indigenous coach to lead Ghana to the World Cup.

Appiah also matched the records of his expatriate predecessor by finishing fourth in his maiden Africa Cup of Nations as head coach in South Africa.

“Kwesi records speak for him and he deserves all the venerations he is getting at the moment,” Crentsil told

“With his contract extension the stakeholders are working on it and I’m sure at the appropriate time it will be made public.

“But from my side I feel the coach has done a good job and deserves some credit.”

Crentsil is currently in Namibia where he is monitoring the development of the nation under-17 team who are playing in a four nation’s tournament.

Pay the man A$AP. Most coaches will have their contracts renewed before the WC if it's due this year. Coaches in their final contract year often struggle to control locker rooms if the road gets a little bumpy (ie more losses in friendlies). He will still be under immense pressure being the first Ghanaian to lead the black stars. In the long run it's cheaper to pay him and fire him with pay, than to wait until after the tournament. I believe his price will go up after the tourney and our 3rd successful WC campaign.

There is no way he could be satisfied as he knows nothing about football

Enough of "the first indigenous coach to lead Ghana to the World Cup." !! He (Appiah) would have been a disgrace to his guild, if he had not accomplished that feat with the crop of players at hand!!! The real big feat/deal would be to lead the team to the "SEMI-FINALS" in Brazil that is where he can be proud! The talking and bragging is getting to much, we should be very careful not to get too swollen-headed but always remember "Pride and Arroganz COMES BEFORE THE FALL" . THE BLACK STARS WILL GET NOWHERE IF WE CONTINUE TALKING, TALKING AND BRAGGING OUR HEADS OFF IN THIS LITTLE TIME LEFT! We should know that teams don't win matches talking and bragging, rather they work out strategies and work their asses out to win their matches. Its about time we kept our cards close to our chests in a quiet manner whiles planning the "dumping" of our opponents! THERE IS MORE TIME TO TALK AND BRAG AFTER THE WC IN BRAZIL , SO OR SO!
