The future of the Ghana U17 technical team headed by coach Paa Kwesi Fabin will be decided after a meeting with the Ghana FA’s Technical Committee.

The committee will be reviewing the report of the technical team in Ghana’s failed campaign at the African U17 Championships earlier this year in Morocco.

The Black Starlets failed to win a single game at the championships – suffering a humiliating 6-1 defeat to Nigeria in the opening match and drawing 1-1 and then 0-0 with Congo and Ivory Coast in the other group games.

The team thus crashed out of the tournaments after just the first round phase – failing to emulate the heroics of past generations of Ghana U17 teams.

The team’s technical bench will be under review next week – after which a decision will be taken to either maintain the coach and his remaining backroom staff or give them the boot after a scheduled meeting next week.

“We received a letter from the General Secretary about the U17 report so we have decided to meet them (Ghana U17 technical team) to discuss the report,” Ghana FA’s Technical Committee chairman Ben Koufie told Metro941.com.

“It is only after this review that the decision on whether we are retaining the coach or not.”
