Ex-Ghana winger Yaw Preko believes the experience garnered during his playing career can help the Ghana Under-20 make a successful African title defence in Libya next month.

He was appointed number two man to head coach Orlando Wellington on Wednesday by the Ghana FA ahead of the African Youth Championship.

Preko, who has acquired a Caf License 'B' coaching certificate, wants to make the most out of his new job.

"It’s a massive step for me and I’m very excited at the opportunity and the new challenge. I’m really looking forward to supporting Orlando and making an impression and of course make the best out of it. This is what a chance of a lifetime and I will do my best to support the team in whatever way I can," Preko told GHANAsoccernet.com

Preko was a member of the Fifa Under-17 World Cup winning side in 1991, played in the Fifa Under-20 team that reached the final of the 1993 edition before losing to Brazil and starred for Ghana at the 1992 Olympic Games.

He also won several caps for the Black Stars as a flying winger.
