Ghanaian Timothy Fosu-Mensah is close to signing a long term deal at Manchester United that will see him given an opportunity to stake a claim in Jose Mourinho’s team.
The young defender is one of Europe’s exciting right backs and impressed under Louis Van Gaal last season.
Earlier reports in England indicated that Fosu-Mensah was among nine players the coach informed that they would not be part of his plans for the coming season.
But after a meeting with Ferguson and the players agent, Mourinho has resolved to give the young defender a chance in his team for the coming season.
Fosu-Mensah can act as an understudy to Darmian this season once he puts pen to paper on a new deal. German football icon Bastian schweinsteiger leads a high profile list of players who have been declared surplus by the Portuguese coach.
