Ghanaian defender Gideon Jung impressed in a back-role for Hamburg SV in their 1-0 win over Hertha BSC on Sunday.

Jung, 22, replaced injured Mërgim Mavraj as he formed a solid defensive partnership with Kyriakos Papadopoulos.

The German-born defender, who is eligible to represent Ghana at the international level was deployed in an unfamiliar role where he excelled.

He played full throttle as Swedish Albin Ekdal grabbed the only goal of the match for the relegation-threatened side at the Volksparkstadion.
