Ghanaian internationals Dominic Oduro and Lloyd Sam hogged the headlines in the MLS clash between Montreal Impact and New York Red Bulls as they scored classy goals against each other on Tuesday night.

Both players, who are uncapped by Ghana at any level, scored as the pulsating tie headed for a stalemate before 19,213 fans at the Saputo Stadium.

It was Oduro who drew first blood for the Canadian side with a top-level goal on the 42nd minute mark, following an eye-catching combination play between Dilly Duka and himself inside the Red Bulls box.

But Sam tied it for the visitors with a neat finish in the 52nd minute as they cruised back home with a valuable point from the game.

Montreal had the better chances later in the half and got the opening goal when Oduro slipped a ball through the defence to Dilly Duka, who dropped it back for a blast from close range that left Luis Robles no chance.

New York tied it in the 52nd as Sam got behind Donny Toia to put Grella’s lobbed pass in at the near post.

Oduro, 29, has now netted six MLS goals for Impact this season while Sam, a former Charlton Athletic player in the English Premier League, has also bagged six goals in 18 games for Red Bulls.
