Global stars to headline Unity Cup match next year ahead of crucial general elections

Top European players and African stars will play in the maiden edition of the Unity Cup next year.

Primeval Media, organisers of the 2015 Mo Ibrahim Governance Cup, are planning bring together a crack of seasoned former and current stars in a charity game to preach peace ahead of next year’s crucial general elections in Ghana.

The Unity Cup will see former greats stars including Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert as well as  Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Gianfranco Zola, Emile Heskey and Edgar Davids amongs others compete with the African stars led by Ghanaian legend Abedi Pele over a two-legged ties in Accra and Kumasi.

‘We have the Unity Cup in place for next year. It is something that has never happened in Ghana before’. Head of Communication at Primeval Media, Jeffery Asare told the media

‘We want to launch on January 18, 2016. It is going to be between top European players and the top African players against their Ghanaian counterparts led by Abedi Pele with the Black Stars.’

Ghana goes to the polls to elect a new president in November with incumbent John Mahama expected to face stiff competition from opposition leader Nana Akufo Addo.
