AshantiGold striker Hans Kwofie claims being top scorer at the end of the season was not his prime target.

The experienced forward scored four goals in the last fixture of the season against league winners Aduana Stars on Sunday to be the league's top scorer.

He netted an overall 17 goals in the end one hat trick and scoring four goals in a single game on two occasions to clinch the top scoring gong.

Kwofie said: "My main target was to win a trophy with Ashanti Gold SC. I aimed at winning either the premiership or the FA Cup."

"We were eliminated very early in the FA Cup and struggled in the league.

"The only thing I could do was to aid the club to remain in the the league. The goal king just happened because I am an attacker.

"I cannot say I reject it. I am the top scorer of the league this season and I am happy. It feels good."

Kwofie is the first player from Ashanti Gold SC to be top scorer of the Ghana Premier League after Shaibu Yakubu in 2003.
