Hearts goalkeeper Samuel Akurugu feels honoured to have captained the side in their 1-1 draw at Wa All Stars.

The glovesman was handed the leadership role in the absence of Robin Gnagne.

He was given the chance ahead of experienced Soulama Abdoulaye and says he was thrilled to have been handed the armband.

"I am very, very happy and proud to captain Hearts even if it's for one game," Akurugu told Facebook.com/accraheartsofoak

"I cannot even say it's a dream come true because I least expected to get this honor. I am extremely happy that we got a good result too and because of that this game will leave long in my mind.

"I think the players deserve big credit too for digging deep to get the equalizer and it's good to have a point on the road. We have to focus more on our home games and keep our fingers crossed because we are still in the title race."
