Ghana league champions jibe at Asante Kotoko

Ghana Premier League winning coach Herbert Addo has taken a swipe at Kotoko saying he could have won the league with club had he been retained.

Addo was sacked as Kotoko coach before the start of the season after a turbulent display in a pre-season tournament.

He took charge of the Kumasi-based side the previous season and catapulted them to second-place from eighth.

Addo accepted an offer from newcomers Aduana Stars who he guided to the league title this season.

He said told Asempa FM: "I could have even won the league by the first round with Kotoko considering the quality of players and in particular the striking department in their fold.

"If at Aduana I had half the players Kotoko had, the league champions wouldn’t have been determined on the final day.

The former Black Stars coach played down his role and thanked his personnel and the fans for ensuring their historic feat.

"It has never happened in the history of Ghana soccer and I must thank every one especially the fans for their support.

"Some of them even travelled Sunyani to support Chelsea in beating Ashgold handing us the league trophy in the process

"Let the party now begin, but after we have to seek the way forward for the club’ he said in conclusion."

Addo has won the league trophy with four different teams-A shantiGold (Goldfields), Hearts of Oak and Kotoko.
