King Faisal owner Karim Gruzah pours cold water on Alhaji Raji's resignation over 'village' comment

King Faisal owner Alhaji Karim Gruzah has jumped to the defense of under-fire GHALCA boss Alhaji Ali Raji, insisting his 'village'comment against Aduana Stars is harmless.

Raji has been in the news for all the wrong reasons after he reportedly tagged Aduana Stars as a 'village' team during a recently organised G6 competition in Sekondi.

The unsavory comment has sparked a wave of attacks on the former Eleven Wise director with incessant calls for his dismissal.

But the outspoken football administrator has jumped to the defense of the under-fire GHALCA boss, insisting his comment is harmless.

â€˜’I don’t think he insulted the Brong Ahafo Region as some people want us to believe. Even Hearts Of Oak supporters normally tag their rivals Asante Kotoko as ‘villagers’ but we don’t take it serious because we know they don’t mean it,’’ he told Konongo-based Virgin City Radio.

â€˜’I know it’s some people who have taken it as an opportunity to create unnecessary tension. Azumah Nelson once told a certain boxer to bring his parents to officiate their bout, was that an insult? I have heard people mentioning Nana Agyemang Badu’s name but I can tell you he is rather thinking about his work and other matters.’’
