Local Black Stars name 22 players to prepare for Libya friendly

Players from Asante Kotoko dominate the latest 22-man squad of the local Black Stars for next's friendly against Libya.

Michael Helegbe, Richard Mpong, Kofi Nti-Boakye, Kwabena Edusei and Michael Akuffo were drawn from the Ghana Premier League champions as reported by Kumasi-based Metro FM on Thursday.

The squad list which is yet to be confirmed by the Ghana FA also features Aduana Stars’ impressive full back Godfred Saka, the Berekum Chelsea pair of Jordan Opoku and Jackson Owusu as well as Abeiku Ainooson and Asiedu Attorbrah from New Edubiase.

Two players were also called from Wa All Stars in Joshua Otoo and Tijani Joshua.

Hearts of Oak’s Moro Abubakar, Francis Morton from Ebusua Dwarfs and King Faisal’s Sulley Mohammed are also included.

Three goalkeepers in Stephen Adams, Adade Foli and Joseph Addo from Aduana Stars, Ebusua Dwarfs and Heart of Lions respectively were called.

The team is expected to begin camping at a yet to be announced date to continue preparations ahead of the CHAN tournament to be staged early next year in South Africa.

Ghana booked a place in the tournament for the third successive time without kicking a ball after Benin withdrew from the preliminary qualification round.
