Long-term strategic plan focus in Kyrgyz Republic visit

Bishkek: Setting up a long-term strategic plan was the focus of a recent visit under the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) League Development Programme to the Kyrgyz Republic recently.

Organised by the AFC Member Associations Development Department, the main aim of the visit was to highlight the importance of having a strategic plan and the AFC’s assistance in drafting and implementing it.

The visit included bilateral meetings with FFKR officials such as the national team coaches and Technical Director who shared on the current technical development in the Kyrgyz Republic. It also presented a plan to develop new grassroot and youth development programmes to include all regions and schools in the nation, from the under-7 to the under-13 age groups.

FFKR Acting General Secretary Dastanbek Konokbaev, who presented on the association’s current strategic planning process and future plans, said: “The FFKR is very well aware of the importance of having a long-term strategic plan for the development of football, and we have also been internally working on this last year and liaising with our regional football associations, clubs and other stakeholders to collect useful data and information.

“The strategic planning assistance by the AFC is timely as we are eager to receive feedbacks and inputs on the process of strategic planning we have in store.”

The AFC representatives later gave a presentation to the FFKR staff on strategic management, objectives of a strategic plan, process, vision, mission and objectives, as well as reviewed various case studies.

After discussions and meetings, the findings and recommendations were presented to the FFKR on the final day. The recommendations concerned the timelines of the current strategic plan and to set more definite objectives. Further assistance from the AFC through its development programmes will be based on the goals and objectives set out in the strategic plan.
