Malik Akowuah has revealed that the appeal of winning the Ghana Premier League title for the first time in his career played a major role in his decision to join Hearts of Oak.

The dreadlocks midfielder was linked to a host of top clubs in the country and abroad but instead opted to join the Accra-based club on a three-year deal after a protracted negotiations with his parent club Medeama.

“Sometimes when you change clubs you find it difficult to adapt in the beginning but with time everything will fall in the right place. I’m now getting used to the team and I believe my performance in the last two games is a testament," he told Happy FM.

“The condition and performance of the team in the last three games shows that we can win the league title. That’s the main reason I joined Hearts of Oak because I’ve never won a league title before, but I’ve played in a team where we have finished in second and third positions before, so this season I will do my best to help and myself achieve our goals together."

He has starred for the club in all their 8 matches in the Ghana Premier League
