Man City send Silva to Spain for ankle treatment

David Silva has travelled to Spain to undergo treatment on his troublesome ankle.

The Manchester City playmaker will work with the Spain national team's medical staff in a bid to overcome the problem that has plagued him for some time, according to The Guardian.

Silva has endured nine separate ankle injuries since arriving at City from Valencia in 2010 and again was cut down during the weekend's 3-1 home loss to Leicester City.

It is believed the 30-year-old is a major doubt for Sunday's crunch clash with second-placed Tottenham Hotspur but is a chance to return for the FA Cup fifth round meeting with Chelsea the following weekend.

The injury comes at a bad time for City who are also preparing for their Champions League Round of 16 first leg meeting with Dynamo Kiev as well as the Capital One Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley on February 28.
