Man Utd defender Jones slammed after sacking long time cleaners

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has been slammed by his former cleaners.

The Sun says married cleaners have branded skinflint — after he sacked them over a £300 bill.

Angela and Nigel Stubbs, both 51, say they asked for the cash to cover petrol costs.

They had spent a fortnight moving Jones and fiancée Kaya Hall's belongings from their old home to a £5million mansion.

The couple, who worked for the £80,000-a-week Premier League defender for six years, claim they now face life on the dole after being sacked with only six hours' notice.

Nigel said: “Phil has behaved like a skinflint towards us.

“For someone worth several millions of pounds I can't believe he's kicked off over just £300.

“This is all because they took issue when we asked for help with a petrol bill, which we only spent because we were helping them move house."

Angela added: “We used to sit and have cups of tea with them in the kitchen. We thought the world of them and felt like family.

“We were invited to family celebrations and even their engagement party. But all of a sudden we were fired. We feel really let down and cast aside after all these years. We feel totally betrayed."

Jones denies their claims and insists the couple were sacked from their £23,400-a-year jobs because they breached their contracts by asking for wages in advance.
