Man Utd great Sir Alex Ferguson never asked for Zlatan - agent

Mino Raiola has revealed that Manchester United never asked after Zlatan Ibrahimovic before this season.

The 35-year-old Swede has been an instant hit since arriving at Old Trafford on a free from PSG in the summer.

In the wake of his match-wining brace in the EFL Cup final on Sunday, which took his overall tally to 26 goals for the Red Devils, Zlatan's agent Raiola was asked why the striker had not made his way to England any earlier.

Raiola said there was previous interest from the Premier League but not enough to warrant serious consideration.

“Not at the level we wanted," Raiola told talkSPORT.

“It was difficult because there was never momentum to do it. He had never been a free agent in his career because he has always had top clubs wanting him.

“For example, my big friend (Sir) Alex Ferguson never asked for him."
