Marco Asensio scored twice as Real Madrid pulled off an exciting second-half comeback to beat Real Betis 5-3 on Sunday night in Seville.

Madrid had pulled in front just past the 10-minute mark when Marco Asensio headed home a rebound from a Cristiano Ronaldo shot after Betis keeper Antonio Adan parried it right into his path.

Keylor Navas then did well to preserve Real's lead against a lively looking Betis side in the 26th minute, diving high and to his right to palm a Joaquin free kick away from the top corner.

But the clean sheet wouldn't last as the hosts found a deserved opener when Aissa Mandi muscled his way through the Madrid defence to head in the equaliser from an inswinging Joaquin cross.

And minutes later Betis would be in front when Nacho poked the ball into his own goal after Navas had bobbled a well-hit shot from Junior Firpo to make it 2-1 at the intermission.

Sergio Ramos pulled Madrid level early in the second half, heading home a Lucas Vazquez corner before Asensio added his second -- a lovely first-time shot after Dani Carvajal picked him out on the counter-attack -- to put Real up 3-2.

Shortly after, Cristiano Ronaldo doubled his team's lead, settling a Casemiro chip over the Betis defence, then cutting to his right and smashing a shot past Adan to further settle Madrid nerves.

A late Betis goal from Sergio Leon proved to be little more than consolation for the home side as substitute Karim Benzema scored just after coming on to secure the point for Madrid.

The win leaves Real in fourth place -- just one point behind third-place Valencia and with a game in hand -- in the La Liga table.
