Maritzburg United insist defender Awal Mohammed is not for sale at least until the end of the season.

The Ghana international is being chased by several clubs in South Africa and in Europe following an impressive debut season in the Premier Soccer League.

The 24-year-old's sterling performance for 'The Team of Choice' have seen him earn a place in the Ghana squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

With offers flooding in and persistent reports linking Awal to Orlando Pirates, Maritzburg's operations manager Quinton Jettoo is adamant the Ghana defended will not be sold.

"We will not be selling Awal during the January transfer window," Jettoo said.

"We will not sell him at least until the end of the season. There is a lot of interest from Europe."

The former Asante Kotoko player's current contract with Maritzburg expires in June 2015.
