Medeama ended their pre-season campaign with a 1-1 stalemate with second-tier side Samartex on Saturday at the Tarkwa and Aboso Park.

The FA Cup holders, fresh from the Super Cup triumph over Ashantigold, opened the scoring through midfielder Eric Kwakwa in the first half.

But the visitors pegged back to pull parity courtesy Prince Boateng's penalty.

Medeama enjoyed the chunk of possession and took a well deserved lead with Kwakwa connecting beautifully to Bernard Ofori's sleek pass in the 18-yard box.

He kept his composure to slot home for the Mauve and Yellows.

Coach Tom Strand took a huge gamble by changing the entire first team squad in the second half, allowing the visitors some breathing space to control the game intermittently.

Defender Patrick Opoku fouled Prince Boateng in box, leading to a resultant penalty.

And the former Kotoko midfielder elected himself buy displacing goalkeeper Michael Sai.

The team was without influential defender Samuel Adade, who has a bout of malaria.

The 'Cup specialist' will travel to champions Ashantigold in their opening 2015/16 Ghana Premier League fixture on Sunday February 21.
