Essien will captain the Black Stars on Wednesday

AC Milan midfield commander Michael Essien will captain Ghana on Wednesday night when they play Montenegro in a pre-World Cup friendly in Podgorica.

The AC Milan enforcer will lead the team as regular captain, Asamoah Gyan is starting the match from the bench in their final warm-up before the squad for the World Cup is named.

This shows that in the absence of Gyan at the World Cup Michael Essien will be the leader of the squad even though potential candidates Sulley Muntari and Andre Ayew are all available.

Essien is expected to command his team-mates to victory over the Europeans as Ghana are seeking the win over Montenegro to boost their confidence.

The AC Milan superstar is respected among the players for his calm nature. experience and huge successes he has chalked in the past.

It a good idea, AA is using our bench and some great players, my concern is the defenders, they should try to be strong as usual, With Adams in the pole no fear
