Ghana midfielder, Michael Essien played full throttle in a warm up game for Panathinaikos as he continues to work his way towards his first competitive game for the Greek club.

The former Chelsea star has been troubled by niggling injuries since his move from AC Milan but looked in good shape as Panathinaikos baptized their opponents with a 6-0 win.

Essien, 32, is expected to join the first team in training as they prepare for their fourth league game against Levadiakos after missing from league action since day one.

Panathenaikos are currently third in the Greece Super League and are seriously counting on the full recovery of the former Chelsea utility player to strengthen their side as the eye the league trophy.

The Ghanaian midfielder arrived at Greece outfit earlier this year as the most expensive player for Panathenaikos after signing a two year deal worth 1.6million euros a year.
