Naivety caused Frimpong red card-Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsenal Wenger has blamed Emmanuel Frimpong's sending off on lack of experience and his enthusiasm for the game.

The 19-year-old midfielder had his promising afternoon marred by a horrible challenge on Liverpool's Lucas Leiva which brought him a second yellow card and his subsequent sending off on the 70th minute.

Liverpool then capitalised on the numerical advantage to force an own goal from Aaron Ramsey.

Luis Suarez then applied a simple tap-in to make it 2-0 and put the game beyond a troubled Arsenal side.

Wenger believes the Ghanaian could have exercised some amount of self control.

"Frimpong was a victim of his lack of experience and of his enthusiasm and heart. He deserved a second yellow card,'' Wenger said.

''He should not have gone into that challenge.''

Frimpong joins African duo of Alex Song and Gervinho to have seen red this early season.
