New Hearts of Oak coach C.K Akunnor says despite his focus being on the first team, he’ll have an eye on the talents coming through from the club’s reserve side.

Several budding talents from Hearts’ junior side (Arouras) which in the past was the backbone of the Phobian success story have been neglected in recent times in favour of spending mega cedi to purchase already established players from rival clubs.

But Akunnor who sealed his two-year move to Hearts earlier this week as replacement for dismissed Serbian Nebojsa Vucicevic says part of his time will be spent developing talents from the reserve side despite his main prerogative being the success of the first team.

“I know the players (first team) quiet well,” he said.

“We’ve heard a lot about some of them, they are quality players but also we need to be looking at Arouras (Hearts’ junior side) to check on the talents coming through so hopefully we will get the team winning again.”

The ex Black Stars captain officially commences work on Thursday after seeing his new team battle to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday away to Medeama.
