Pirlo suggests Juventus star should learn from Yaya Toure

New York City FC’s Andrea Pirlo has told his ex Juventus teammate Paul Pogba he should follow in Yaya Toure’s footsteps as he revealed his current Premier League XI.

The Italian midfielder shared the Juventus Stadium’s dressing room with the Frenchman between 2012 and 2015, after making a vital contribution to bring the Scudetto back to Turin in 2012 under Antonio Conte.

“Maybe Toure is not as consistent as he once was, but can still dominate a game,” the 36-year-old told Shortlist.

“I told Paul [Pogba] that Yaya and Patrick Vieira are the two players he should try and replicate, and he can.”

Pirlo joined the Major League Soccer side in 2015, and although being linked with an Inter switch during the last transfer window he decided not to leave the United States.

Former Serie A star Alexis Sanchez was also named in Pirlo’s ideal squad of Premier League players, with the Chilean currently at title challengers Arsenal.
